STEM AND TECHNOLOGY
AT CENTRAL COLLEGE

Technology For Today’s Education Needs

Modern technological solutions drive the Central College campus and its overall mission and vision of making the Kingdom of God visible. Central College Christian School is no different, featuring a support department and multiple hands-on opportunities for students to be enriched by and learn about the technology that drives our world.

Technology at Central College is seamlessly incorporated into every class room.  This is facilitated by each student in grades one through five having their own Chromebook to use at school.

Google’s G Suite is used throughout the school with Google Classroom managing teacher/student collaboration for both instructional content and assignments.  Even kindergarteners use their tablets to access the G Suite tools. Our teachers love their smartboards which are in every room and this year in particular, teachers and students both appreciate the new in room sound systems. These sound systems include a wireless microphone which is seamless to use by the teacher.

With the need to include students at home in quarantine, teachers have special auto zoom web cameras that allow them to include “at home” students in the classroom experience. Younger students look forward to reaching the fifth grade so they can participate in the student produced weekly news cast. Every Monday morning all classes get to view the school news presented by students through videos produced in our very own green screen studio.

Teachers also use Code.org and our Kodable subscription service to help students develop their coding skills.

Our maker space includes several different models of robots from simple to complex.  Programming the robots helps students to see their code working in a live, real time, context.
