In the little town of Rumor Mill, USA, quite a “buzz” is filling the air in the town square.  A sign posted anonymously declares “A King Is Coming To Town”.  Just who is this King?  King Tut?  King Kong”, the King of Rock and Roll??  Hmmm….

Bring the whole family and join us on Saturday, December 11 at 4:00pm at the Westerville North High School auditorium for the Academy’s performance of A King Is Coming To Town.

As always, no tickets or reservations are required.  Donations to the CCCA Fine Arts Fund will be appreciated and accepted after the performance.  Business owners interested in advertising in our printed program should contact Diahn Hevel through the form found below.

Each year, CCCA has a Christmas shop for the students to select four gifts for their immediate family members, friends, and/or pets. It has been a great success, and we are pleased to be doing it again. This year, the Santa Shop will be held Monday and Tuesday, December 6 and 7, 2010. As in the past, we ask the parents to donate the items to stock the Christmas shop for the kids. The items can be purchased or handmade. We prefer that you donate at least a dozen of the same item so that each class has a better selection. We also need donations of gift bags and tissue paper. On the day the kids shop to pick out their gifts, they are asked to bring in three canned food items, which are donated to the church’s food pantry. Some examples of past donation items are: no-sew fleece scarves; OSU Buckeye/sport related items; mugs filled with cocoa, tea, coffee, chocolates, nuts; dog and cat toys, bones, catnip items; car cleaning items; stuffed animals; unique Christmas tree ornaments; king size Hershey Bars; writing journals; calendars; matchbox cars; crayons and coloring books for toddlers; and candles. You can drop off your items for the Santa Shop between November 16 and 30. There will be a box in the copy/ mailroom next to Mrs. White’s office for the donations. Volunteers are needed to help set up the shop on Sunday, December 5, assist the children with choosing and wrapping gifts during the shop hours and finally to clean up the room after the students are finished shopping on the last day. The shop will be open from 9am to noon on Monday and Tuesday. If you volunteer to clean up, that will be on Tuesday immediately when the shop closes. It normally takes between an hour to an hour and a half to set up and clean up. If you would like to volunteer, please send me an email through the form below with your availability. This year we will be having a hot, home-cooked, sit-down, family style luncheon for the Thanksgiving Feast. Join us for turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, veggies and desserts!

In lieu of making a food donation, we are asking for a suggested donation of $10 per family. Please note that regardless of the donation, no one will be excluded from the luncheon.

We are projecting approximately 400 participants, including students, for this event. Due to space and budget constraints it’s imperative to RSVP to reserve your family’s presence for this celebration. Responses are due by Monday, November 15. The yearbook committee is YOU! We count on the participation of parents and teachers to provide us with photos taken throughout the course of the year. Please help us make the 2010-11 yearbook a success! Throughout the year, we will send out reminders asking for pictures so that we can begin working on the yearbook. After the 1st of the year, the 5th graders will be asked to lend their creative talents. The most efficient way for the yearbook staff to work with your pictures is to receive the pictures via email, CD or flash drive, which can be sent home via our children’s backpacks, or provided to your room parent. **EDIT- I’ve added in a form so you can email pictures to the yearbook staff right through this page.** (Please note: You can still upload to a shared site (i.e., Shutterfly, Photobucket) created by your teacher, room parent or us; if you want to share pictures with other parents.) Please send us a message with any questions. If your child has mastered the classroom list sent home, he or she may re-quest the list for the next level. Class-room teachers or Mrs. Kenzie can provide a list. Additional lists will be given to classroom winners. Several spelling games are available at www.wordcentral.com. They are varied in difficulty.

Join us on the church lawn Sunday, October 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. for some low-cost, fall family fun at the 4th Annual Central College Fall Festival. Activities will include pumpkin painting, a bounce house, fall crafts, face painting, a 50/50 raffle, and other fall themed games.

Calling ALL volunteers! The day of fun is rapidly approaching, and we need you…. yes, you to assist us with the Fall Festival. There will be festive fun and games and a few surprises too. Please consider signing up to work a craft or game station, concessions, man a game, or assist with set up or tear down. Leviticus 8:23 “If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied.” Probably not exactly what God had in mind, but all the other volunteers will appreciate you!
