Throughout its 150-plus years as a member of the Westerville community, Central College Church has placed a unique emphasis upon Christian Education. Central College Christian Academy (CCCA) was chartered by the State of Ohio Department of Education and opened in 1998, with one class of 20 kindergartners in a small, older building next door to Central College Church.
The continued commitment and support of Central College Church to high-quality education in a nurturing, Christian environment is quite evident – from CCCA’s state-of-the-art facility, to the outstanding teaching staff, to the current K – 8 student body with a curriculum chartered by the state of Ohio. CCCA offers our students the best of both worlds: the fresh, creative approach of a relatively young private school, combined with a centuries-old heritage of educational excellence in the Christian tradition.
We believe that young children can thrive in a smaller school environment. Our maximum class size is 22 students per one teacher. In our kindergarten classrooms our students to teacher ratio is 11 to 1. As a result, many students receive more individual attention.
Our school uniform policy serves as another tool in fostering the academic, character-building and self-respecting environment we believe God wants for our children. The approved school uniforms are the required dress for every student attending CCCA. Uniform attire may be purchased from any of the 3 approved, local vendors. One of these vendors makes it especially convenient for our families by accepting phone and fax orders (and the clothes are delivered directly to the school for pick-up) and even coming on site annually for fittings and taking orders. At least monthly, we celebrate Spirit Day and other special events where students may wear CCCA-logoed sweatshirts or t-shirts.
Much more detail can be found in our school handbook and other materials available in our information folder and by request.
Our school day begins at 8:15am and ends at 3:25pm. Students may arrive as early as 8:00am and report to homeroom. Before and Aftercare are also available starting at 7:00am and ending at 6:00pm. Cost of scheduled care is $4.50 per hour with a discounted rate of $4.00 for siblings. Drop-in care is available at $5.00 an hour. Parents will be billed for each ½ hour actually spent in care.
In general, we follow the Westerville City Schools’ calendar for school days as well as inclement weather delays or closures. The CCCA calendar is published in late spring for the next school year.
Parents should contact their District of residence to schedule transportation services. If you live within 30 minutes of CCCA you may be eligible to receive transportation services unless the District deems transportation impractical. In such cases, compensation may be provided by the District in lieu of transporting your child. CCCA does not provide transportation.
Students may pack or purchase a hot lunch and milk, ordered in advance online via ParentsWeb. Parents and other relatives are welcome to join or take their children out to lunch during the lunch/recess hour. K-1 dines at 11:15-11:45am. During the second seating, the Upper School has lunch at 11:50-12:20pm.
Educational research confirms a high correlation between parent volunteerism and academic achievement. To this end, we strongly encourage parent involvement in both the classroom and participation in our Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) which meets regularly throughout the school year.
Students are scheduled to visit and check out books each week from our Library Learning Center. We hold Scholastic Book Fairs throughout the year to support our Library, ensuring the most up to date titles are available for our students.
